Fifty Nifty United States

Hi there!

Currently, we are studying the geography of the United States. Part of this unit includes the creation of a ginormous United States, separated by region. Students worked in groups of two or three to create regions of the U.S. Each group was responsible for researching important landforms and waterways, cities, states, and resources in the area. Then, they were to design their region. They loved this project and it turned out great! Enjoy!  (Sorry Hawaii, we're still working on you!)

  1. Wow! Such a fun activity. I want to try this out next year...I already have my kiddos do quite a bit in regards to the states. But this would be a great culminating activity.

  2. Looks like a great activity! How do you get the scale right for each region so all the pieces fit together?

    1. Hi Kelli!! Great question. I actually made a transparency of the US and then projected it onto the wall at the size I wanted. Then I taped poster boards to the wall and just traced it. It was actually quite easy!
